- River Legacy Park
- Location & Phone
- Northwest Green Oaks Blvd near Cooper Street Intersection, Arlington, TX
817-459-5475
- Additional Info:
- This is the best and most well kept park we have seen in Dallas/Fort Worth. If you think you know of one as good, send mail to webmaster@dogpack.com and we'll check it out. Take your dog for a walk along the dirt trails underneath a canopy of trees or let him file his fingernails on the paved sidewalks. This is a busy park, so if you have a herding breed that likes to chase bicyclists and/or rollerbladers, we would suggest the trails instead of the sidewalks. There are both shaded areas and wide open areas, along with a pond, a stream, and if you visit at dusk, you're liable to see some wildlife. It is truly a wonderful place for the animal and the nature lover. Unlike many of the popular parks, it is clean! Only once have we seen broken glass in all the time we have been going there and we go every day! No empty beer bottles, beer cans, or pop tops litter the grounds. There are water fountains, and covered eating areas, as well as several well maintained trails. The city (Thank You Arlington!) has even put up little red houses on the light poles with plastic potty bags (how's that for animal-friendly?).
- Bank of America Drive Thru Window
- The Bank of America located at Southlake Boulevard and Hwy 114 often returns a dog treat in your canister if they see a dog in the car with you. So, now your pet can make his own withdrawals! We've been told that one of the local Walgreen's Prescription drive throughs does the same.
- Home Depot on Southlake Boulevard
- We often see people in the Home Depot on Southlake Boulevard with leashed pets. The pets are well-behaved and PetSmart is right next door for any extra items you might need.
- Cedar Hill State Park
- Location & Phone
- FM1382, just South of I-20 and East of Carrier Parkway
972-291-3900
- Additional Info:
- We actually found this park first through the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association, which has several mountain bike trails at this park (the best in the area in our opinion). Your dog has to remain on-leash, but even so, you and your dog can hike the non-bike trails, swim, explore, and check out the wildlife.
- Cafe' de France Bakery and Cafe
- Location & Phone
- Lincoln Square Shopping Center, Arlington, TX
817-261-1777
- Additional Info:
- Enjoy some French cuisine at a sidewalk table with your best furry friend.
- Coffee Haus
- Location & Phone
- Lincoln Square Shopping Center, Arlington, TX
817-274-0006
- Additional Info:
- Your dog can sit with you on the patio while you have your coffee. Not only is their coffee good - so are their pastries!
- Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge
- Location & Phone
- 9601 Fossil Ridge Road
817-237-1111
- Additional Info:
- This is a great park for hiking and taking long walks with your dog (on-leash of course). The canopy of trees is so heavy in several places that it helps protect you and your dog from the Texas heat and sun in the summer. In the fall it is absolutely gorgeous when the trees are losing their leaves. Also, it's a good spot to enjoy nature and wildlife.
- Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games
- Location & Phone
- Arlington, TX
817-654-2293
- Additional Info:
- Any leashed dog is welcome, but you will have exceptional fun if you have a Westie, Scottie, Cairn, or any other variety of Scottish dog. In addition to the great Scottish food and music, you'll see just about every variety of Scottish dog imaginable showing off their herding/hunting skills. But the most fun of all is the Wee Beastie contest where you dress your dog up in a Scottish outfit.
